i feel like giving up is all we've got

Why do the horses I tip die?

Lyric of the day: This fake reality / I can never make up the time that you take up / It's my worst enemy / I'm on a mission to feed my addiction - Sum 41, Billy Spleen

I have a lot to write about, a lot of crap really, but I don't know where to start.

I guess I'll start with the dead horse.

This is quite terrible, folks. One of Australia's top horses, Shogun Lodge, died while racing. I was almost in tears.

Top horse dies during Emirates

November 8, 2003

TEARFUL trainer Bob Thomsen today praised his favourite galloper Shogun Lodge as one of the greatest horses he'd ever handled after the seven-year-old died during the running of the Emirates Stakes at Flemington.

Shogun Lodge fell to the track near the 1000m mark of the 1600m race having apparently suffered a massive heart attack.

"I've trained champions and I looked after Tulloch, the best horse we've ever seen," Thomsen said.

"This bloke was right there with them."

Almost from the time Shogun Lodge started racing five years ago he became Thomsen's favourite.

Together the pair won 13 races and $4.6 million in prizemoney.

But Shogun Lodge is also remembered for his 12 second placings in Group One races.

His record became something of a novelty, but Thomsen wouldn't hear either a word in jest or a word against his horse.

In his first season of racing Shogun Lodge finished third to Catbird in the 1999 Golden Slipper and only last month scored a surprise win in the Lightning Handicap (1000m) at his home track of Randwick.

A week ago he ran one of his best races when third at Flemington and was favourite to win today's final Group One race of the Melbourne Cup carnival.

Thomsen rushed to the horse's side but was too late to say goodbye.

He then made a heart-wrenching return to the saddling paddock carrying Shogun Lodge's empty bridle.

If there was any consolation, Thomsen said, it was that the horse would have felt no pain.

Fighting back tears he said that jockey Glen Boss had felt Shogun Lodge become slightly uncoordinated.

"He just came down, his big heart just gave up," he said.

Titanic Jack won the $500,000 Emirates Stakes followed by True Glo and Crawl.

My dad is a mad punter, and he got me to pick all the horses for him in the form. I picked Shogun Lodge.

Daymn, horsie. Why did you die on me??

I just finished my health assignment too. I spent 1066 minutes exercising last week. Go me. I slacked off on Friday..only 100 mins. I am ashamed.

Anyway, Bec has gotten all pissy at me. PMS? Who knows. But she said "Why can't you just ask what's wrong? Why do you always way wtf is wrong now?"

Well Bec, maybe because you never tell me whats wrong anyway. A typical conversation

Her: m hi

Me: alright (insert day details)

Her: m great

Me: what's wrong?

Her: nthn..y

Me: you're being all one-word answer again..

Her: im juz bein normal..

Me: yeah, whatever bec

Her: your day

Me: i told you already..

I swear..I'll never get her.

Maybe it's me.

Maybe I'm just a crap friend.

Yours, the STILL stingy bitch
